Fed up with high concert ticket prices, Socialists launch new initiative
The SP launched a hotline where people can report buying concert tickets from resellers for much more than they were sold for in the sale price.
"Resellers make heavy abuse of the fact that fans would love to go to a concert", SP parliamentarian Jasper van Dijk said in a statement on the party's website. He used tickets for Adele concerts selling for more than 1,000 euros on the secondary market as an example. "These figures make tons of money off the backs of visitors. It's malpractice that must be stopped."
In February the Eerste Kamer, Senate, will discuss Van Dijk's proposed law for addressing this problem. If the law is approved, tickets may not be resold for more than 20 percent more than the original price. The Parliamentarian is calling on everyone to report their experience with overpriced tickets through the hotline. He will collect these reports and hand it to the senators when they discuss his law.
