Many more Diamond Anniversary celebrations as life expectancy rises

An increasing number of married couples are celebrating their gold, diamond or even platinum wedding anniversaries in the Netherlands. This is according to figures released by Statistics Netherlands on Friday. The statistics office attributes the increase to greater life expectancy and the high number of marriages in the 60's and 70's. This year 43.6 thousand couples celebrated their golden 50th anniversary. 9.6 thousand couples celebrated their diamond anniversary at 60 years and 170 even reached the platinum anniversary at 70 years of marriage.
