Sparta recalls over 9,000 e-bikes for faulty frames
E-bike manufacturer Sparta has issued an accelerated re-call of over 9,000 of its bicycles on discovery of problems with the weld seam in the front of the bicycle. The damaged weld seam could lead to cracking and, in exceptional cases, sagging of the frame, the company said in a morning paper advertisement reported broadcaster NOS.
The problem has been discovered in the ladies model of the electric Sparta bicycle with the high entry frame types ION RX, RX+ and +RXS manufactured between July 2011 and 2014.
The accelerated re-call was initiated after a lady in IJsselstein’s bicycle frame broke. She sustained no injuries reported the broadcaster.
Sparta has urged customers to check the model numbers of their bicycles on the white sticker on the bottom bracket, and has offered an exchange on the faulty frame for the latest 2015/16 model.
