Car arson was an assassination attempt, city councilor claims

A resident of Oss got quite a shock on Friday morning when his car went up in flames just as he was about to open the door. The incident happened on Brabantstraat. SP city councilor Bas van der Voort called it an "assassination attempt on a local resident" on Twitter. The councilor lives in the same apartment building as the owner of the car and spoke to him shortly after the incident. Van der Voort told Omroep Brabant that the owner had noticed smoke coming out of his car as he approached it. The owner was not hurt, he says. The police are investigating what exactly happened. This includes determining whether arson was involved. The technical investigators have taken the car away for further investigation.
