Hoogeveen arsonist busted; in custody for questioning

The police arrested a 39 year old man in Hoogeveen on Monday morning in connection with the large number of arson cases in the city this year. According to the police, the man can be connected to part of the arsons. There have been 20 confirmed arsons in Hoogeveen since end May this year. The police strongly suspect that several arsonists are active in the area and have therefore divided the investigation into several sub-investigation. The suspect arrested on Monday is related to one of these sub-investigations. He is in custody for questioning. The police are urging the residents of Hoogeveen to stay alert, despite this arrests. "Keep eyes and ears open and report anything suspicious to the police", they write on the police website. Most of the arsons happened during the night time hours, but it is possible that an arsonist may be preparing for his crime during the day time.
