Amsterdam brothers named in Syria ISIS case

Amsterdam brothers Walid and Alaa-Eddine B. will be appearing in court next Wednesday on suspicion of wanting to travel to Syria to join terrorist organization Islamic State and wanting to commit terrorist offences once there. The two brothers, aged 24 and 26 years respectively, were arrested in April. The hearing next Wednesday will be the first time they appear in court, the Parool reports. According to the newspaper, the two's internet behavior form a large part of the Public Prosecutor's evidence against them. They searched YouTube and Facebook for information about weapons, explosives, combat techniques and ways to disguise their behavior and identity. The brothers also bought clothes for their journey and had chat conversations with "a prominent member of the terrorist organization ISIS" in which they expressed their intention to travel to Syria. One suspect even arranged an alibi with his girlfriend, telling her say to anyone who asks that they were in Turkey on holiday and that they are engaged.
