Three injured in psychiatric prison fire

Three people had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in a cell in the Van Mesdag psychiatric prison in the city of Groningen. Employees of the clinic discovered the fire and managed to bring everyone to safety. It is believed that the fire was started by the patient in the cell, spokesperson for the clinic told NOS. A number of the 260 detainees in the secure psychiatric clinic had to be evacuated and were accommodated elsewhere in the complex, according to the fire department.
