Amsterdam police shoot suspect in "threatening situation"
Police officers shot a suspect in a "threatening situation on Bulgerstein in Amsterdam on Sunday afternoon.
The police received a report that a man did not want to leave a property on Bulgerstein around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. When the police tried to arrest the man, the situation turned "threatening" and the police fired shots.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. One officer was lightly wounded, but did not have to go to the hospital.
The Rijksrecherche, the national department that handles internal investigation, has launched an investigation into the shooting. This is common practice whenever the police fire shots. In the interest of the investigation, the police will not release further details about this case.
