PostNL offers full-time contracts to delivery drivers

PostNL is giving all delivery drivers an offer to be employed on a full-time contract or to earn more as an independent worker. The postal company made this announcement on Monday, the Telegraaf reports. For delivery drivers who opt for the certainty of a permanent employment contract, PostNL is offering an contract for an indefinite period of time without probation. They will fall under the PostNL collective bargaining agreement and will receive all its inherent labor conditions such as pensions and holidays. Those who prefer to stay independent will get a rate increase that will increase their income by about 10 percent. The offer was negotiated with union FNV. Both PostNL and FNV feel that the outcome of the negotiations resulted in a good offer. "It is good that every independent delivery driver working for PostNL can decide for themselves whether or not they want to make use of the offer." Reinier Stroo, negotiator on behalf of FNV, said to the Telegraaf. The union explained the offer to independent delivery drivers in three meetings on Sunday. Two of the meetings voted for the offer and one meeting voted against. PostNL will discuss the offer with the independent delivery drivers in the coming period.
