Eleven hurt in Dronten car crash

Eleven people were injured in an accident involving three cars on Saturday. The accident happened around 5:55 p.m. on Elburgerweg in Dronten. The injured people were taken to a hospital. When the police arrived at the scene, they found several people around the cars and a number of people still inside the cars. One of the victims was thrown from the car. Ambulance workers provided assistance at the scene and transferred victims to nearby hospitals. The police conducted an investigation into the cause of the accident on the scene, closing Elburgerweg and Oldebroekerweg to traffic for some time. Based on the initial investigation, the police believe that the accident was caused as follows. One motorist coming from Elburg wanted to turn left onto Oldebroekerweg. An oncoming driver saw this and swung out to the left. The first motorist swung out in the same direction and the two cars hit each other head on. A third motorist saw the accident happening in front of him and tried to avoid the two cars. He lost control of his vehicle and the car rolled. All those involved are from Dronten and Biddinghuizen. Five of the injured people were allowed to return home on the same day after being treated in the hospital. https://twitter.com/Stefanuzz/status/619915763034529792
