Thousands raised for fatal lightning strike memorial

More than 4 thousand euros have been donated to the families of Eva and Belle - the two friends who were killed by a lighting strike in Amersfoort on May 6th. The money is intended to build a memorial site in memory of the two Amersfoort women. More than half of the target amount of 7,300 has been collected so far. Eva's father, Eelco Buitenhuis, told AD that he is very happy about the donations. "The donations come from Dutch people and Amersfoort people and are very generous. We are very grateful to everyone who donated. We get messages saying that people hope that something like a memorial will be built, because the girls deserve it." The families are discussing possible locations for the memorial site with the municipality. According to Buitenhuis, there are several options, including a bench in the Liewe Vrouwekerkhof. "But we are still discussing it with the municipality."
