Amsterdam apps Amikasa, Human Cities win Webbys

Two Amsterdam apps won Webby Aawards, also known as the Oscars of the internet, in New York on Monday. Amikasa and Human Cities walked away with this prestigious prize. Two Dutch website builders also received a Webby each - Fabrique, who designed the website for the Design Museum in London, and 72andSunny, who made a virtual walk through Marseille. The Amikasa app is a 3D room designer. It allows you to build, restyle and redecorate rooms using furniture, flooring and wall colors from real brands. "You can see how a new interior or cabinet would be placed, how it fits in with the wallpaper or carpet, without having to go to the shop", Frans Vriesendorp, creator of the app told AD. Human Cities is an app that tracks your movement - walking, running, cycling and motorized transportation. It maps how people move in different cities across the world. "Every little bit helps. That's why we want to encourage people to be active. It does not matter whether you are running or walking with your children, as long as you have fun." Paul Veugen, founder and CEO of Human.co, said to AD.
