Nearly 11 million to take summer holidays this year
The number of Dutch people with summer vacation plans has increased for the first time since 2011. About 10.7 million Dutch people will be going on vacation this summer, an increase of 1.5 percent compared to last year.
This is according to a study done by NBTC-NIPO.
About 7.6 million Dutch people are planning on holidaying abroad this summer. France remains the most popular destination with 1.3 million people planning to visit the country. Runners up are Spain and Germany, with 1 million and 750 thousand plans respectively.
Some 2.5 million Dutch people plan to spend the summer holidays in the Netherlands. Most plans involve a summer holiday in a bungalow.
Around 600 thousand people plan to go on holiday this summer, but haven't decided on a destination yet.
