Helmond mayor, local mosque discuss cleric's impending visit

Helmond Mayor Elly Blanksma adn the board of the al-Fadjr mosque are discussing the visit of Islamic cleric Sa'd Ateeq al-Ateeq. Al-Fadjr has asked him to pray at the Helmond mosque on Friday. Mayor Blanksma and alderman Margreet de Leeuw have made appointments at the mosque and with the Platform for Social Cohesion, a consultative body of civil society organizations in the city, AD reports. What exactly will be discussed is not known. According to the AD, Sa'ad Ateeq al-Ateeq is considered contreversial as called on Allah for the "destruction" of Jews, Christians, Shiites and Alawis in one of his sermons. It is not clear whether the al-Fadjr mosque is aware of this sermon.
