All taxi drivers may work on Schiphol: court
It is no longer necessary for taxi drivers to get a special taxi permit for picking up passengers at Schiphol airport, according to a ruling by the Amsterdam court on Tuesday, NOS reports.
Previously, only taxi drivers with a taxi permit issued by the airport were allowed to pick up passengers at the airport. Taxi drivers without a Schiphol taxi permit were only allowed to drop passengers off, not pick them up.
The court has now ruled that the restriction on taxi drivers without a Schiphol taxi permit is no longer allowed. According to the court, the municipality of Haarlemmermeer can take steps to improve the quality of taxi transport, but refusing licensed taxi drivers without a Schiphol permit is going too far.
Schiphol will study the ruling.
