Burglars shoot resident after confrontation

Burglars shot a 63-year-old woman in the leg early this morning after she caught them rummaging through her shed at Vosbergstraat in Heesch.

Police say the woman and her 65-year-old husband woke up around 2.15am to a sound coming from the shed. When they went to see what was making the noise, they caught “several people” at the shed, who immediately opened fire. One bullet struck the woman in her leg. The husband was not inured. The people then escaped through the meadow behind the house. A search was initiated, but no one was found. Police say it is not clear how many there were and there is also no description available. They have appealed to the public for help.
