At least 80 flights cancelled at Schiphol from wind

About 80 flights have been cancelled at Schiphol airport this morning due to the weather conditions. Flights have also been delayed by about an hour, Reformatorisch Dagblad reports. The strong westerly and northwesterly winds have made conditions on the runway not optimal for both departing and arriving flights. A spokesperson for the airport told the newspaper that he expects the conditions to continue for the rest of the day. Both travelers and those picking someone up at the airport are advised to check the airport's app or website for flight information. The winds do not seem to be troubling Rotterdam The Hague airport much this morning as no incoming or outgoing flights have been hindered so far. Thus far only one flight has been slightly delayed. "The wind blows hard here, but we've had hardly any trouble." a spokesperson told the newspaper. The situation will be reassessed if the wind turns during the course of the day. KLM has already cancelled a number of flights, especially in Europe. A number of flights set to arrive at Schiphol has also been redirected.
