Shooting death after abduction still a mystery

Police have still not clarified whether the case of Patrick Galiart who died yesterday after he was found injured in a house in Loosdrecht, concerns a homicide or a suicide.

Galiart (44) died hours after he had tried to kidnap his ex-girlfriend from a store in Laren. He tased her, but she managed to escape from his car. Relatives of the woman have said he had been very aggressive lately.

He was found Thursday afternoon, shot in the face and lying upstairs in his house at Nieuw-Loosdrechtsedijk. He was transported to a hospital by helicopter, but died shortly after arriving there.

The Hilversum man is said to be the son of the bookkeeper of a notorious criminal. Police have denied rumors that officers had gunned down the young man.
