Hit-and-run kills baby, injures father

A baby was killed and its father injured when a car struck them in Lutten, Overijssel Thursday night. The driver of the car did not stop after the accident, which happened sometime before 8 p.m. The father was pushing the baby in a stroller when the car hit the two on Dedemsvaartseweg-Noord, according to RTV Oost. The baby was ejected from the stroller and died at the scene. The father was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. A notice for the car, a light grey Mercedes-Benz with xenon lights, went out on citizen alert organization Burgernet. By 8:22 p.m. the car was found, Burgernet said on Twitter. Police would not say if the driver was arrested. The cause of the accident, and the reason the driver sped off have not been revealed.
