Man with knife escorted out of newspaper office
A disturbed man found his way onto the editorial floor of De Telegraaf in Amsterdam yesterday afternoon. He was escorted out of the building by security and then taken away by the police. Police officers later the discovered that the man was carrying a knife.
According to De Telegraaf, the man did not act violently in any way. Editor Sjuul Paradijs informed Mayor Eberhard van der Laan of the incident.
The police report that the 48 year old man entered the building and claimed that he had an appointment. "It is standard procedure that the police is called in. We searched his bag and found a knife, which he, in his own words, uses to peel apples. He threatened no one and committed no crime. The man has not been arrested." a police spokesperson said to NU.
The man has psychiatric problems and is known to the police.
