"Air France is not a bottomless pit": CEO
France is trying to curb Parliamentarians who are actively engaged in ensuring the interests of KLM. Frederic Gagey, head of the French branch of Air-France-KLM, wrote an opinion piece published in Het Financieele Dagblad in which he defends the company and responds to, according to him, the inaccurate perceptions about the company in Dutch media. According to Gagey, both KLM and Air-France are taking painful steps to improve results. "Air France is not a bottomless pit", Gagey emphasized. He stated that the operating result improved by 400 million euros over the last three years, RTL reports. Without the crippling pilot strike last September, the results would have been positive in 2014. According to CDA Parliamentarian Van Helvert, Paris is offended by the way Dutch parliamentarians are dealing with the dispute between KLM and Air France, De Telegraaf reports. The French Ambassador, Laurent Pic, called Van Helvert to discuss the issue. According to Van Helvert, Pic thinks that the Tweede Kamer parliamentarians are reacting "too emotional" to the Air France-KLM issue.
