Five cops sickened in carbon monoxide incident
Five people became unwell in the police station on Europark in Oosterhout this morning. The fire department is investigating the cause.
The employees complain of headaches, dizziness and shortness of breath. They were treated on the scene and did not need to go to the hospital. The emergency service were called in at about 09:15 a.m. after a report of an accident with carbon monoxide. A trauma helicopter, ambulances and fire engines were sent to the police station.
It is not yet clear exactly what happened. The fire department took measurements for, among other things, carbon monoxide and oxygen.
There are two police offices on Europark that stand separately from each other. A section on the top floor of one of the buildings was evacuated. The employees were transferred to the other building. According to a spokesperson for the fire brigade, the evacuation went smoothly. The police station in Oosterhout does not have a detention center, so no prisoners had to be evacuated.
