Earthquake claims reach 235; more quakes expected
The Nederlandsche Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) has received 235 damage claims after the earthquake in Groningen early Tuesday morning. According to NAM, it involves relatively minor damage, such as cracks in walls and damage to plaster.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale and was one of the strongest this year according to KNMI. The epicenter was in Woudbloem in the municipality of Slochteren. This earthquake was also caused by natural gas extraction.
Yesterday's earthquake was the 79th earthquake in Groningen. There have been fewer earthquakes this past year, but more are expected.
