Botox limitations pitched by plastic surgeon groups

Two associations of plastic surgeons are worried about doctors injecting botox and other so-called fillers without asking questions. According to the two organizations, the safety of the patient is not always ensured. A new directive is needed to improve the quality of cosmetic care. "Because currently every doctor can give an injection and administer fillers, there is a proliferation of injection doctors", say the Dutch society of Plastic Surgery (NVPC) and the Dutch Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (NVEPC). Minister Schippers of Public Health implemented stricter rules for cosmetic surgery which means that, for example, beauticians are no longer allowed to inject wrinkle fillers. The associations think that that is "a step in the right direction, but far from enough". Cosmetic care is being discussed at an international conference of the NVPC in Amsterdam today and tomorrow.
