ABN Amro to close 100 bank branches

ABN Amro will close at least 100 offices in the next few years, approximately one third of the current offices. Chairman Zalm confirmed this last night on the television program Pauw. Zalm expects that maybe even more branches will close. On Friday ABN Amro announced that between 650 and 1,000 jobs will be lost because offices will be closing. Exactly how many and where is still uncertain. According to Zalm, fewer and fewer people go to the bank to arrange their affairs. Increasingly many people do their banking over the internet. The reorganization should be completed in 2018.
