South Korea bans Dutch poultry imports

For the time being South Korea will not import any poultry from the Netherlands, reports South Korean news agency Yonhap. The reason for this ban is the bird flu that was discovered on a farm in Hekendorp over the weekend. With this measure South Korea hopes to avoid the bird flu hitting their country. The ban includes all live poultry and poultry products. In addition the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has asked people to avoid contact with potentially infected poultry. Last January South Korea was hit hard by an outbreak of the avian influenza virus. More than 14 million animals, mostly ducks and chickens, had to be killed.
