Number of homes sold spikes up 45 pct.

he Land Registry announced on Monday that the number of home sales increased in October by 44.6 percent, compared to the same period last year. In total 14,353 sold homes were recorded. Compared to September that is an increase of 10.8 percent. The number of transactions increased in all house types compared to a year ago, but the sales of detached houses had the highest increase of 50.5 percent. Semi-detached houses had the smallest increase with 34.4 percent. 2013 was a bad year for the housing market, which is why the number of sales this year is so significantly higher. Next year's figures will be compared to 2014 and the difference in transactions will not be so big. Ger Hukker, chairman of real estate organization NVM, expects the housing market to settle down. He thinks that the number of transactions in 2015 will increase with between 0 and 10 percent.
