Church offerings thief nabbed

A churchgoer who apparently made it a habit to steal from the offerings at his house of worship in Geldrop was arrested on Friday.

Police say the unnamed 40-year-man from Eindhoven was held around 11.00am when he was caught redhanded. A church worker who saw him trying to take from the offerings plate in the church at Nieuwendijk, locked the door on him and then called police. The man tried to break the door and flee, but it held until the cops arrived.

It turned out that the man had already been caught on video taking money from the plate a few weeks ago. Police say he was charged with theft.
