Bank fees going up next year
The customers of ABN Amro and Rabbobank will pay more in banking fees next year. The fees for these two banks increase by an average of 5 percent. According to ABN Amro the increase is necessary to continue investing in new services and products, such as mobile payment. "And we must also invest in the safety of banking. In addiition, a nwe European legislation has arrived around payment transactions: the iban and sepa" says Karin de Vries on behalf of ABN Amro. Rabobank also gives investment as explanation for the rate increase. "We want to continue to innovate our services on the internet and moblie phone. More and more services can be arranged 7x24 online," says Kees Nanninga of Rabo. The Consumer Association demands "an acceptable explanation. ING, SNS and the RegioBank say that they will not raise their rates in 2015.
