Socialists' leader pushing wealth tax, left alliance

The SP, PvdA, Groenlinks, the unions and other social organizations should come up with a propsal together to tax wealth more and to ensure that those on lower incomes go up. SP leader Emile Roemer pleaded for this on the television program Buitenhof on Sunday. He would like to discuss this with PvdA leader Diederik Samsom. The Cabinet is working on a revision of the tax system. But Roemer thinks that the current governing parties, the VVD and PvdA, are not coming together and that they are weighing the plans on the elections. According to him there is a big contrast between what the VVD and the PvdA say about the tax plan. "The VVD says: there should be no income effects and we should not tax the wealthy more. I heard Samson say that it would be good if the wealthy are taxed more." He can not imagine that the parties let ensuring that the capital is taxed go. The Netherlands is now simply a tax haven for the rich, according to Roemer.
