Scooters to be ticketed in Rijksmuseum tunnel

As of today, scooter and moped riders and drivers of other motor vehicles who drive through the Rijksmuseum tunnel in Amsterdam, can expect a fine. The camera system in the tunnel is operating. The tunnel is only open to pedestrians and cyclists. That after years of squabbles over whether or not to open the old monumental tunnel at all. And then to who and at what times. The camera system has been up in the tunnel since early August and has been extensively tested. The municipality states that this will be a one year trial, because this method of enforcement is new to Amsterdam.
