Organ donor week: registrations drop

Far fewer people registered during Donor Week than last year. The organization announced on Monday that only 27,433 people registered this year, compared to 31,285 last year. 41.9 percent of the Dutch population aged 15 and older is now registered. A quarter is willing to donate organs and tissue. According to a spokesperson it is still too early to make a good comparison to last year, as the organization expects many registrations in the coming weeks. Donor Week was held from October 12th - 19th. During this week 200 actions were held to underline the importance of organ and tissue donation. Of the 27,433 people who registered, 86 percent are willing to donate organs after death.
