NS trains starting up in Scotland

Trains from a NS subsidiary will be transporting people in Scotland. Abellio has won a concession for 7 years, which may be extended by three years. There are already Abellio trains in three areas of England, including Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. The company also does a portion of the bus transport in London. The Scottish trains will be starting April next year. Abellio wants to run more trains in Scotland than is now the case. In addition the trains will be made more comfortable, especially on long journeys. The NS wants to take Dutch experiences to Scotland. For this reason 1.6 million pounds is being invested in bicycle storage facilities. There will also be bicycle rental points at the stations The director of Abellio UK is pleased with winning the concession. "Given the population of 5.3 million and the 82.5 million passenger trips per year on ScotRail, it is a great challenge to provide quality service to existing travellers, while encouraging more people to use the rail network." Abellio has been around since 2001. The company has been profitable and revenues abroad also contribute to the turnover of NS.
