Train station robbery caused massive damage

The damage to the NS train station Vlaardingen-Oost after a car crashed into the building and subsequently burst into flame is so extensive that investigators cannot yet review it and cannot yet make estimations, the Algemeen Dagblad reports. A spokesperson for the NS says that any estimates about the scope of the damage would be premature. "The front of the main entrance is broken and the question is what all has to happen to it. We also still have to look at the invisible damage that still has to come to light", the spokesperson tells the AD. Wednesday morning, a Volkswagen Golf rammed straight into the main building of the train station and burst into flames. An ATM machine inside the building was also tampered with, but it is not clear what the culprits made away with. Although the train station is operational, with check-in poles placed in the still-usable back area of the station, the scope of the damage is still unclear. The NS says it does not know when the repair works will be finished.
