Smoke bomb evacuates Maastricht shopping center

In Maastricht, part of the shopping center Mosae Forum was evacuated Wednesday morning due to a suspicious package. Authorities believe that it is a home made smoke bomb. Several shops and the municipal offices in the building have been cleared, the NOS reports.  The package was discovered by a passer-by under a walkway bridge in the shopping center. The person took the package to the municipal office in the Mosae Forum and called the police. The Explosives Reconnaissance Team of the police sounded the alarm and warned the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. The EOD will inspect the package and remove it from the building. According to the police, there is no immediate danger for the area. The smoke bomb was home made. Whoever left it at the shopping center is not known.
