Woman held in car attack; two boys, 14, injured

Two 14-year-old boys were injured in a collision with a car behind a sport center on the Dobbeleane in Sint Nicolaasga, in the province of Friesland, Hart van Nederland reports. Witnesses say that the driver of the car, a 57-year-old woman, crashed into the two boys on a bicycle-and pedestrian path on purpose. One of the boys is in serious condition. He was airlifted to the UMCG hospital in Groningen by trauma helicopter. The other boy was lightly injured. The driver has been arrested, and her car has been seized. It is unclear what the motive of the attack was, but police suspect that it was motivated by a "long-running conflict." According to Hart van Nederland, there were many witnesses to this incident. These have been offered counseling by Bureau Slachtofferhulp.
