Breda councilor likens gay people to pedophiles

PvdA council member for Breda, Jamal Nouhi, has been reprimanded by his party for his comments about homosexuals, who say that the expressions are unfitting and unacceptable. Omroep Brabant pointed out Nouhi's comment on the website Bladna.nl on Thursday, which reads: "What if we set up People Rights Watch and demanded that all pedophiles should be accepted by Europe? Or would demand that a European country should implement some kind of Islamic law? What then?" This is blatant comparison of LGBT rights with pedophile rights. On the website, Nouhi says that the human rights organization should no longer concern itself with the anti-homosexuality policy in Morocco. The organization is pleading for homosexuality to no longer be punishable. Nouhi believes that Human Rights Watch should respect Moroccan culture. Nouhi has said that his comments are his own personal beliefs, and not necessarily those of the PvdA. His critics have said that he is a PvdA council member, which makes his comments unfitting. This sentiment is echoed by the PvdA in Brabant. Faction president Henk van der Velde is demanding clarification from Nouhi about these comments. "I only just heard about it and I'm shocked. We have to first talk with him to know if he really made these comments. Secretly I hope it isn't so, but that chance is small." https://twitter.com/huismanmarcel/statuses/487195367151517696
