Netherlands, Dutch Caribbean to exchange DNA data
The Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean island states of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten have agreed to an exchange of DNA criminal profiles.
The agreement was reached on Wednesday during meetings in Willemstad, Curacao between Justice and Security Minister Ivo Opstelten and his counterparts from the islands.
Parties agreed that their judicial authorities would have direct access to each other’s databases where DNA profiles of people who commit serious crimes are stored. They also agreed to expedite the process of bringing the necessary changes to the applicable legislations.
This exchange of data will make it easier to trace genetic evidence found on a crime scene to anywhere in the Kingdom.
