Businesses not ready for mobile network failure: report

A new report issued by the Radio-communications Agency of the Netherlands says that small and medium enterprises, as well as healthcare agencies, are ill-equipped to deal with serious mobile network disruptions. The agency's annual report points out that more than 100,000 clients were seriously affected by the 38 large-scale disruptions in mobile. "Unlike many smaller companies, larger companies have alternatives in the event of a power outage or network failure," said agency head Peter Spijkerman in an interview with the Financieel Dagblaad. "Even smaller companies would have to take disturbances into more consideration due to their increasing dependence on mobile networks." He then told the newspaper that businesses are accountable for not having a backup plan, and that mobile providers and the government are only partly responsible for problems caused by outages.
