UPS workers on one-day strike

Couriers for the United Parcel Service (UPS) in Amsterdam are striking today, they are protesting the lack of a good collective labour agreement in professional freight transport, according to union FNV Bondgenoten administrator Egon Groen, RTL Nieuws reports. Of the 60 couriers currently employed at the company, half are participating in the strike, which will last all of Friday. The union says that parcel delivery to the region of Amsterdam will be disrupted. Negotiations about a new collective labour agreement for the professional freight transport sector ran into a wall on February. Unions demanded a one-year agreement with a pay rise of three percent. Employers are not giving in, however.
