Couple arrested over hit-and-run accident

Police have arrested a man and a woman in connect with a hit-and-run accident in Baarlo Sunday that sent two bikers to the hospital.

The 39-year-old man from the Peel en Maas parish slammed into the four women cyclists on their way home from a party, but instead of stopping to see if they were hurt, he sped away. Two of the women required treatment at the local hospital; the two others were unhurt. Police say the car the man was driving is registered to a woman from Venloo. They did not say what their relationship is. Investigators had been able to track the car with directions they got from a tip. "It showed damage to the front and the right side, that correspond with the tracks we found at the scene of the accident. We are pretty sure this is the car," a police spokes person said.
