Hungarian held for exploiting women at Wallen

A Hungarian national who was arrested for exploiting women in De Wallen red light district saw his detention extended with 14 more days on Wednesday.

The prosecutor’s office reports that the 48-year-old man was arrested abroad on an international warrant and then transferred to the Netherlands on May 5. He was suspected of a main role in a ring that pimped and manipulated women who offer their services from street side windows in De Wallen. He became a suspect after two Hungarian women filed reports against him in 2012 and 2013. On Wednesday he was taken in front of an investigative Judge who found that was sufficient reasons to warrant an extension of his pre-detention with 14 more days. Police had also arrested another man and a woman in this case, but they have meanwhile been released.
