Arsonist arrested for torching own home

Police arrested a 28-year old man at a home in 's-Hertogenbosch Thursday morning after a fire broke out in his own apartment of a building on the Sweelinckplein. The fire department received a report of the fire at around 7:20 a.m. The emergency services went into action. Residents were evacuated and the fire was put out. Around 60 residents were temporarily sheltered in a nearby care home. The apartment where the fire started burned to a cinder, surrounding apartments have water and smoke damage. Nobody was injured. The municipality is inspecting the building to see when the residents will be able to return to their homes. The police is currently determining this as an arson case. The resident of the apartment was arrested at around 8:15 in the morning elsewhere in the city. He has been placed in custody. Police are doing technical investigations in his apartment.
