Boy reprimanded for blinding Apache pilots

Police say an eleven-year-old boy who shined a laser pen at an Apache helicopter has been reprimanded because he blinded the pilots.

The helicopter was hovering over Alblasserdam Wednesday night, providing security for the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS), when the pilots noticed that someone was shining a light on them. They were able to locate the exact position of the boy and alerted police. "Because of his young age he was not arrested, but we did severely reprimand him," said police spokesman Gijs van Nimwegen. "It left an impression on him so we know he won't be doing it again. Blinding pilots is not only annoying; it's also very dangerous." Officers also confiscated the laser pen.
