Collections complaints doubled in NL

The number of complaints about bailiffs more than doubled in 2013, with an increase of 115 percent, according to acting national ombudsman, Frank van Dooren, in the annual report 2013.

The government does not adequately adjust its service to all citizens, landing some of them beneath the subsistence minimum. Many complaints pertain to bailiffs not considering the basic personal allowance, dishonesty and unreliability of the government. Complaints about government services decreased last year from 40,000 in 2012 to 38,000 last year. Most complaints are about the tax department, followed by municipalities, police and Employee Insurance Agency (UWV).
