Long lines of voters at stations
At train stations in big cities, voters formed long queues this morning to vote at the special booths.
The NS announced that almost a thousand people had already cast their ballots at 8:30 a.m. at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag and Utrecht CS for the municipal council elections.
Many of the voting booths at the stations opened extra early so that commuters could also vote in the early hours. Despite the queues this was possible at every station within a time specification of 10 minutes.
In total, 49 stations are acting as voting places today.
