Elderly woman dies after break-in

A 73-year old woman in Zwolle was injured when she found a burglar in her home on Friday. She passed away on Saturday evening, the police report. The woman opened her door on the Mirteweg, in the Westenholte neighborhood at around 7:00 pm in the evening on Friday, coming face to face with the burglar who was just leaving the house. The burglar roughly pushed the woman, which caused her to incur brain damage. She was taken to hospital under critical condition, where she died on saturday evening. As of yet, the burglar is still at large. The police have issued a description of the man via Burgernet (a crime-fighting network between residents, municipality and the police). The suspect is thought to be a 20-year old male with short, blond, spiky hair. He took off in the direction of the Malvaweg. Several reports have come in, which are being checked. Any witnesses to this incident are urged to contact the police, and can leave information anonymously.
