Probation could be blocked for Dam Sq. shooter
The Public Prosecution wants the probation of Erwin V. to be postponed for now. V. was convicted for the assassination of Konstantin Dimitrov, a Bulgarian criminal.Erwin V. was scheduled to be released on probation later this month. However, the Heerhugowaard prison where he serves his sentence advised against it, because V. flat-out refuses to report to a probation officer. The public prosecution wants to postpone the probation with 6 months and evaluate at that time whether V. qualifies.

The bullet went through his head and into the face of his girlfriend, a 23-year-old Bulgarian model. The woman survived the ordeal, but Dimitrov (33) died on the scene. The police arrested V. shortly after. Even though he was seen by witnesses, running away from the scene, V. always denied the murder and blamed the crime on a Bulgarian acquaintance he was out with. Vasil Kachikov, who was shot and wounded last month in Bulgaria, is the acquaintance Erwin V. was referring to. To V, only an unconditional release is acceptable. 'At some point it's enough. This chapter is closed, it's over.' In recent years V.'s record has been exemplary. He's never been on leave, since he does not have a valid passport. The court postponed the case to take the opportunity to hear prison staff.
