Burglars Busted On Building's Roof

Two suspected burglars were arrested Thursday morning as they tried to hide on the rooftops connected to the store they had allegedly robbed. Witnesses spotted the two men walking on a roof in Amersfoort at 5:30am, according to the police department. Police responding to the scene "discovered several bags of clothes that were found to be stolen from a store on the Langestraat," a police report said. One suspect was caught trying to hide in a gutter, and the other was found nearby. Police requested assistance from firefighters, who responded with an elevated platform to safely remove the suspects from the building. Once on the roof, officers found more bags of stolen items. The two men, a 37-year-old from Amersfoort and a 31-year-old, are being held in custody.
