Dutch war criminal dies

Heinrich Boere, a Dutch war criminal and former Nazi Waffen SS member, has died in a German jail. Heinrich Boere / Picasa / LA PLEGARIA DE UN PAGANO German justice officials said Monday that the 92-year old Boere has died in a prison hospital while serving a life sentence, Fox News reports quoting The Associated Press. In 2010, a German court sent Boere to jail for the murder of three Dutch civilians in 1944. He killed Dutch civilians as part of a Nazi Waffen SS hit squad during World War II. Boere was born in 1921 in Germany to a German mother and Dutch father. His family then moved to Maastricht. He became member of the Waffen SS in 1940. The Dutch government made attempts to have Boere extradited, but a German court in 1983 refused on the grounds that he might have German citizenship, and Germany at the time had no provision to extradite its own nationals.
